Senior Linux Engineer

Senior Linux Engineer reports to the Manager of Infrastructure Architecture and will provide primary support of the Linux environment, including but not limited to installing and supporting Linux, capacity planning, and automating repetitive administrative tasks.
Senior Linux Engineer Essential Duties Collaborates with members of the Infrastructure, Information Security, Solutions Delivery, and middleware organizations to define and implement optimal Linux-based solutions aligned with business requirements supporting overall corporate business strategy.
Duties include researching, analyzing, designing, configuring, delivering and supporting the Linux environment for a cloud infrastructure.
Linux Administration including ongoing installation, maintenance and support of the Linux environment, and planning, coordinating and implementing OS patches to meet security requirements and corporate standards.
Collaboration with Middleware areas (DBA, WAS, MQ, etc.
) Partner with the Architecture Teams to research best practices and design a resilient, high-performing Linux environment, along with the roadmap for prioritized delivery of supporting tools, services and automation; define and document appropriate standards Level 2 & 3 troubleshooting / technical support of the current and future Linux environments including off-hours Continuous improvement:
automate repetitive administrative tasks; perform proactive capacity planning; and improve availability and performance Facilitate knowledge transfer to junior team members Qualifications Bachelor's degree in an IT or related field, or equivalent professional experience Minimum of 5 years administering complex Linux environments Strong customer service orientation Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills Proven ability to absorb, master and leverage emerging technologies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proficiency working on large IT project teams as a contributing member Ability to work in a high-pressure environment, and properly prioritize and execute tasks Ability to work independently with no direct supervision, and as part of a team Technical support and OS patching will require off-hour availability Preferred Qualifications Red Hat certification (RHCSA / RHCE) Experience working in a virtualized (VMware) environment Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook) Technical Capabilities Linux best practices expertise for large, highly virtualized environments.
Requires broad infrastructure technical expertise including public and private cloud RHEL 6.
